Russ started playing professionally at age 9 and hasn’t looked back since! Growing up in Ithaca, NY, he had the fortunate opportunity to study with many incredible drummers including Conrad Alexander, George Reed, Billy Lang and Taz Cannon. After winning two Downbeat Magazine awards for Blues/Pop/Rock and Jazz drumming, he attended Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee he studied with Dave Weigert where he transcribed and studied the great jazz drummers. Upon graduating, he began his career as a professional drummer, performing with legendary artists and bands such as Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Dee White, Daniel Donato, Miss Tess and The Talkbacks, Van Winkle and The Spirits, Jay Taylor, Peter Moon, and The Sound Awake.
For five years, Russ lived in Nashville, TN performing and touring with some of Nashville’s finest musicians.
Russ currently resides in the Boston, MA area where he is available for drum lessons, drum tracks and live shows!
